Video, Video~
So, it's been way too long since my last post! And I'm pleased to say that my time has now cleared up and I can resume the modding effort of Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back.
To celebrate this, here is a video showing off some of the screenshots you have seen so far in action :)
As ever, stay tuned for updates and more to come hopefully soon. Thanks for sticking with me through the delays!
And it certainly is "in action"! Smart use of the Red Gem exit as an entrance. There's a small lack of variation though. Maybe you could try mixing in TNT crates beneath Nitro crates to make it look more varied? Or make some hang from the sky in safe spots to make the level look more impossible lol.
TNTs have the habit of making the game lag when loading them, so I didn't show off any here. That said, I'll do my best to include some more in the rest of the level, along with increasing variety of puzzles. You can count on me! Of course, I'm always welcome to suggestions about additional challenges I could add, or anything else :)
Perhaps when it's in a more usable form, yes. Currently it requires a fair amount of aid from a hex editor to correct mistakes that it sometimes makes when assembling things. And while it may make life easier for editing, it's not too user-friendly at this time :P
Haha nice! Another thing: do you will modify the level layout, like holes, platforms and these things? I know almost nothing of hex and kinda but It's a little question.
Any progress so far? It's been w while from your last post. Will you release a demo for the Snow Go level? And a have a "modding program" question: How do you know where do you place crates, does the program show the level layout or something?
I'm going to be honest here. I will, if need be, pay money to see more work put into this. There are advancements being made though. I don't think the project will end any time soon, but there are exams and jobs all over the world which need more attention. My guess is that MrBean35000vr and Chadderz both have at least one.
Times are slow, slower than I thought they would be indeed. Unfortunately two other projects are demanding higher priority than this one right now, but I'm not going to forget about this. It just might be a while before news. I suspect the blog will also move homes soon, too.
What you do MrBean35000vr is very impressive. I've never thought that using only disassembled code and hex editor it would be possible to make level editor for Crash Bandicoot game. This blog is awesome and made my day. I hope to read more posts on the technical details soon :) Live long and prosper.
i think its awesome that in 2013, more than 15 years after its release, this game still has such a following. Perhaps it is time to shake up Crash a little though. If you're making snow go this hard, I dread to think what you could cook up for Cold Hard Crash. AkuAku save us all. I really hope you guys finish this because it would make a lot of gamers happy. Maybe you could even email some old naughty dog dude and ask for how to edit the level scenarios or something :P I mean, have you figured out how to make levels dark (like totally fly?) cos that would make things super hard too :D
Please man, you are an incredible hex editor and programmer, plz let us download the NFS Editor Riboff Edition program, i want to check it out and try this for my self. I rellay want to make harder the levels and i know how to use this programs, Plz man i want to be in contact with this mod, i really want it. :) Thx for all. Keep doing this. Good luck!

Delete<3 so glad to see that you found time to make an update to this! That looks really tricky, I love it.
ReplyDeleteIs this only going to be playable on a real ps1 with crash 2 pal cd?
ReplyDeleteIs there no possible way to get this to work on an emulator like ePSXe?
It works on an emulator no problem. At the moment, it only works for PAL Crash 2 discs/images, however it'll work for all regions when I'm done.
DeleteAwesome! Anyways, will the 'modding program' you're programming posted for all the people?
ReplyDeleteIt could be awesome!

Is there any progress since this video? If so, have you finished Snow Go? You could post monthly progress information
ReplyDeleteDo you any idea of a general time period when this game might be released or have a demo released?
